Miami Dolphins: Team Needs Rookie Review On The Clock Insider Podcast
2010 NFL Draft–
(1-28) Jared Odrick, DE, Penn State: The forceful and agile end broke his leg during the season opener and was added to the injured reserve list as a result. Odrick was impressive enough in the preseason to win a starting job. Grade: Incomplete
(2-40) Koa Misi, OLB, Utah: Misi proved to be a hard worker who was serviceable but not outstanding in any one area. He did rack up 41 tackles and 4.5 sacks but actually should’ve had a few more considering the constant double teams Cameron Wake was facing on the opposite side. The youngster held up pretty well versus the run but needs to expand his pass rushing repertoire of moves. Grade: C+
(3-73) John Jerry, OG, Mississippi: The Dolphins’ declining running attack, which dropped

2011 NFL Draft–
- DE – This has been a pressing need for quite some time. Jacksonville appeared to have found some help last off-season when they signed free agent Aaron Kampman. He provided some semblance of a pass-rush before suffering a torn ACL and missing the entire second half of the year. He is expected to return in time for training camp but this is his second such injury. Former first round pick Derrick Harvey has produced just eight sacks in three seasons. Overall, the Jags had just 26 total sacks—a number that must be improved upon to help get the defense heading in the right direction. It should be noted that Jeremy Mincey, Austen Lane and Larry Hart are developing players but none is a major force.

Rookie Review: St. Louis Rams
St. Louis Rams: Team Needs Rookie Review On The Clock Insider Podcast
2010 NFL Draft Class–
(1-1) Sam Bradford, QB, Oklahoma: He was named the Associated Press Offensive Rookie of the Year for his constant improvement throughout his first season in leading the Rams from a 1-15 record to a more respectable 7-9 total. Doubts about Bradford’s durability were completely put to bed, as the young triggerman took every one of his team’s snaps. He was far more than a caretaker at quarterback despite the lack of firepower at wide receiver. Grade: A
(2-33) Rodger Saffold, OT, Indiana: Surprised his coaching staff by claiming the left tackle spot. Saffold proved to be a tremendous pass protector with great feet, balance and the ability to recover from mistakes. Grade: A
(3-65) Jerome Murphy, CB, South Florida: Combined impressive plays versus the run

2011 NFL Draft–
- OG – Many of the problems along the offensive line resided on the interior and the result was major leakage. Quarterback Chad Henne had little protection in the passing game, the running game was atrocious and the offense as a whole was downright putrid. An overweight Vernon Carey struggled with injuries, forcing Richie Incognito into action at guard. Rookie John Jerry was thrust into the fire and started 10 games but is still a work in progress. Miami could choose to re-sign Pat McQuistan but he is more of a backup in an ideal world. Creating some depth on the offensive line, specifically at the guard position, will be the first step in rebuilding the offense for new coordinator Brian Daboll. It will also allow

2010 NFL Draft Class–
(1-10) Tyson Alualu, DT, California: While many questioned taking the Honolulu native with a top-10 pick, Jacksonville GM Gene Smith got the last laugh as his prized selection came through with flying colors. Alualu’s persistence in fighting through blocks was a key component in helping the rookie collapse the pocket…even against double teams. The controversial first-round pick was also very adept at reading his pre-snap keys. In addition, the lineman’s versatility in playing the three, five or even zero technique was a big plus. His ability to disengage from blockers still needs to improve. Grade: A-
(3-74) D’Anthony Smith, DT, Louisiana Tech: An Achilles tear in training camp deprived the Jaguars of the services of a versatile defender who’s very quick out of his stance
Arizona DE Reed lands visits with six teams
University of Arizona end Brooks Reed has been somewhat overlooked in a deep class of elite defensive linemen, but he’s generating a lot of interest from teams drafting in the 25 to 40 range, sources said Thursday, and is meeting with many of them.
