The Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys claimed RB Harvey Unga and DT Josh Price-Brent respectively in this year’s version of supplemental draft. While the Cowboys got their man by using their sixth-round pick, the Bears took Unga in the seventh round.
At first glance, Chicago’s selection seems a bit curious when you consider the fact that their top two backs (Matt Forte and Chester Taylor) are both plowing inside runners, which is exactly what Unga was at BYU.
There’s nothing fancy about the 240-pound bruiser. He’s the type of player who’ll gain the tough yards by ramming the ball up the middle.
My guess here is that Unga will be looked at as a developmental project, who will be groomed to eventually serve as a fullback. Unga has enough athleticism to perform in a Le’Ron McClain type of role, where he’ll be counted on to covert in short-yardage situations.
Dallas, on the other
