Scout’s Notebook: Penn St. Alabama
The following is a player review of the Penn State Nittany Lions during their demoralizing 24-3 loss. Joe Paterno’s boys were outmanned on both sides of the ball, but what was most disturbing was the lack of physical play demonstrated by a defense that missed tackles with alarming frequency.
Growing pains
True freshman Robert Bolden has the size, arm and legs to develop into a quality starting quarterback, but expecting him to perform this early in his career versus a national powerhouse like Alabama was unrealistic.
Predictably, the Michigan native completed only 13 of his 29 pass attempts for 144 yards and two interceptions.
