Pros: An absolute well-rounded player, Hankins has shown the ability to beat double-team coverage and get into the backfield using brute force and quickness. Hankins is a run-stuffer who can play up and down the defensive line, a luxury that NFL teams value. He also shows sound technique engaging and shedding blockers. Hankins really moves around very well, and he’s very instinctual—he knows how to take proper angles in pursuit to a spot.
Cons: There are some conditioning concerns when it comes to Hankins, who arrived as a 360-pound freshman. Since, his weight has fluctuated—he enters his junior season at a svelte 320 pounds. NFL scouts will want to see that he can consistently maintain that weight.
Quote of Note: “If I happen to leave after my junior year, it’s because I’m predicted to go high.
