SEATTLE, WA – On location interview with Washington Husky senior safety Nate Williams.

You guys are coming off a rough road game. You played better defense earlier in the year, what do you think happened?

I think it was just that we kept shooting ourselves in the foot. I think it was two or three third-and-longs, and we ended up giving them a pass interference to give them a first down. They ended up getting seven points out of that, and then there was a face mask call and they ended up getting points out of that drive as well. We just have a few little things we need to clean up this week and everything will be alright for us.

Inside The Numbers: New Orleans Saints

“Who dat?” That’s the burning question on my mind. Who dat impersonating the defending Super Bowl Champion New Orleans Saints? Shaking off the rust of the off-season, getting acquainted to the rhythm of the game again and the meaningless pre-season games where the starters mainly sit. Because of those factors, it wasn’t a total shock when the Vikings and Saints fell short of lighting up the scoreboard with their season-opening game, a 14-9 win for the Saints.

Over the last 47 days since the Saints kicked off the season against the Vikings, Head Coach Sean Payton has had plenty of time to right the wrongs…to fix this tailor-made offense built to smother opponents with an avalanche of points. Scouting the Nation: Wisconsin O-Line Impresses

Not only did the Wisconsin offensive line win the battle in Kinnick Stadium, they won the war, as the Badgers upset the Iowa Hawkeyes 31-30.

We begin at the end. After an apparent three-and-out the Badgers, trailing 30-24, converted a fake punt in the fourth quarter via a 17-yard run by punter Brad Nortman to the 43-yard line. The final four plays of the game-winning drive: An eight-yard run by John Clay, three yards more from Clay, eight yards from third-string tailback Montee Ball, and again eight yards by Ball into the end zone.

On the day Wisconsin ran the ball 38 times for 142 yards. Sure, they only averaged 3.7 yards per carry, which is 1.5 yards below the 5.2 they average on the season. But it’s also better than the 3.0 yards per carry Iowa is allowing. Coming into the contest the Hawkeyes

College Football Insiders: 3rd & 10 – Week 9

1) LSU gave up the most rushing yards in school history this weekend when Auburn ran all over them to the tune of 440 yards on the ground. The LSU rush defense was previously ranked number six in the nation. While putting on the ground and pound beat down, Cameron Newton set the SEC single season rushing record for a quarterback with 1,077 yards…and he still has four games left to catch the NCAA single-season record of 1,649 yards. That mark is held by the world renowned Jayson Foster of Georgia Southern University, who accomplished the feat in 2007.
