“One of my greatest accomplishments was receiving a scholarship to the University of North Carolina.  Representing the University was a true honor and I am so appreciative of Coach Davis and his staff for giving me the opportunity to achieve my dream of playing for North Carolina. I want to apologize first to my teammates, coaches, and the support staff for letting them down. To the community of Chapel Hill, students, alumni, and supporters of the University, I am terribly remorseful. <br

Scout’s Notebook: Florida State Miami  10/09/10

Written By: Kenny Franek

The ACC’s biggest rivalry went in favor of the visiting Seminoles this past weekend. They took an early lead thanks to legs of Jermaine Thomas and never looked back. Florida State’s stout defense was the story of the game, though, holding the Hurricanes to just seven points in the first half. Here are the highlights and lowlights from players on both sides.

Jacory Harris has been the poster child for inconsistency this season, and this game was no exception. On Miami’s opening series he showed solid recognition of man coverage and took off for his longest run of the season (29 yards). Later on in the drive he rolled out of the pocket and displayed patience, waiting for his receiver to come toward the sideline before delivering a perfect strike

The Rosstradamus: Week 5 Ramble

Week 5 served as an NFL mind eraser; we found out that teams were NOT what we thought they were. The defending champs lost to Arizona, the up-and-coming Texans were blown off the field at home by the Giants, San Diego lost to the Raiders, Cincinnati lost at home to Tampa Bay, and Dallas reverted to their season-opening form after many thought they had righted the ship. Oh, and Peyton Manning failed to throw a touchdown pass at home. It’s the first time since 1970 that there isn’t a 4-0 team in the NFL, a testament to parity…and sloppy, mediocre play.

Despite the overall sloppiness, there were a few teams that looked sharp this past weekend. The New York Giants were one of them. They manhandled, throttled, steamrolled (choose your word, it’ll fit) the Texans in Houston, 34-10. Hakeem Nicks did his best Andre

ATHENS–University of Georgia junior tailback Caleb King has been handed a two-game suspension by Bulldog head coach Mark Richt following his Monday morning arrest on charges of failure to appear at a court date in Walton County to address a speeding ticket.
<br “I expect all our players to take care of their responsibilities on and off the field,” said Richt.  “When players don’t do that it damages the reputation of the player, our team, and our university.  My goal is for Caleb to learn a lesson and for other players to learn from his experience.”
