ATHENS–University of Georgia junior tailback Caleb King has been handed a two-game suspension by Bulldog head coach Mark Richt following his Monday morning arrest on charges of failure to appear at a court date in Walton County to address a speeding ticket.
<br “I expect all our players to take care of their responsibilities on and off the field,” said Richt.  “When players don’t do that it damages the reputation of the player, our team, and our university.  My goal is for Caleb to learn a lesson and for other players to learn from his experience.”

Celebration Nation, Unite!

Before I begin, allow me to disclose the following: I am a New York Giants fan and consequently, I loathe the Dallas Cowboys. However, what took place yesterday during the Dallas-Tennessee game was ridiculous…even to a Cowboy hater. With 4:36 remaining in regulation, Jason Witten hauled in a Tony Romo pass for an 18-yard touchdown. Despite their game-long struggles, Dallas had tied the game at 27. Referees then flagged him for excessive celebration because he “went to the ground” to celebrate. Here, directly from the NFL rulebook, are the passages which cover such penalties:

Section 3, Article 1, subsections c, d,

Chapel Hill, N.C. – “It’s a sad day when three young men are no longer able to represent their school based on actions they have taken and decisions they have made contrary to NCAA rules. Unfortunately, they made serious mistakes in judgment in accepting extra benefits and then not being truthful with our staff and NCAA representatives. Now they must forfeit the privilege of playing again for the Tar Heels. Although they are responsible for their actions, they are part of our university and our program and we will support them as they move into the next phases of their lives. I know they love to play the game, but I hope they will learn from their mistakes and lead productive
