Behind The Steel Curtain: Big Ben Back

The Rosstradamus: Week 4 Ramble

“They did enough to win, we didn’t. Such is life in the NFL,” said Mike Tomlin after the Baltimore Ravens defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field 17-14.

Such is life in the NFL, where two uncompromising defenses would look to take control of the game and give the offense one moment to strike. “Coach Tomlin and Coach LeBeau said if you give this guy time – if you give him opportunities to hit guys – he’s going to hit them,” said Steelers’ starting free safety Ryan Clark about Baltimore quarterback Joe Flacco. Flacco lived up to his “Joe Cool” nickname. The third-year pro was in total control leading the Ravens’ final drive, delivering four straight completions, including the 18-yard game winner to T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

“You come in here and win this game…it’s important for us, it’s important for a lot

The Rosstradamus: Week 4 Ramble

Four weeks into the season and the lone unbeaten team is the Kansas City Chiefs. Why does it take us (and by “us”, I mean “me” and hopefully many of you) at least a month to remember that in today’s NFL nothing is for certain? “There’s no way Jacksonville can beat the Colts,” “The Giants-Bears game is gonna be a real shootout,” “Green Bay and New Orleans are going to cruise to victories!” Those were just the latest examples of why we all love football; its unpredictability. Some of it (that Giant game) manifests itself in ugliness, but for the most part it’s exciting…at least for the neutral observer.

At this point the New York Football Giants cannot complain about how they win. Sunday night’s win won’t

The (Not so) Good, Bad & Ugly

The final 1:30 of LSU’s 16-14 win over Tennessee should have been played under a tent…because it was a circus out there!

With the ball in Tennessee territory following a Stevan Ridley run for no gain, the Tigers called a time out with 1:27 remaining in the game. On third-and-nine, quarterback Jarrett Lee threw an incomplete pass and that’s where the tomfoolery

Contribute To The Kenny McKinley Trust Fund

The tragic news that broke on September 20, 2010 that Denver Broncos wide out Kenny McKinley took his own life brought sorrow to those who knew him closely and the football world in general. Bobby Deren author of Draft Season: Four Months On The Clock became a close friend to Kenny McKinley who was one of four players Deren followed through the 2009 NFL Draft. Deren chronicled McKinley’s story in addition to the stories of Morgan Trent, Frantz Joseph and Lydon Murtha, who were also featured in DRAFT SEASON: Four months on the clock. In light of recent events, author Bobby Deren will donate all future profits from his book, DRAFT SEASON: Four months on the clock, to the Kenny McKinley Trust Fund. The trust fund was established by the NFLPA to benefit Keon McKinley, the 1-year old son of the late Kenny McKinley. Besides Deren work on
