Scout’s Notebook: Miami @ Ohio St

Miami Ohio State Player Reviews

Four Jacory Harris interceptions, miscues galore and penalties killed Miami’s hopes of getting revenge for their 2002 Fiesta Bowl loss to Ohio State. Meanwhile, Terrelle Pryor had an outstanding game and the Buckeyes capitalized on every Miami turnover to negate the two special teams touchdowns by the Hurricanes. Here’s a look at some highlights and lowlights put forth by the eye-catching players in this contest.

It is no secret that Terrelle Pryor can run the ball, yet defenses seem to be unable to stop him even though they know his runs are coming.  On the fourth play of the game, Pryor took off running and gained 12 yards before being touched. Pryor was fearless while running with the ball, but he needs to be more careful with the ball and shy away from contact from time to time

The Rosstradamus: Week 1 Ramble

Football is back…sort of. Week one is in the books, but with a few noteworthy exceptions, the quality of play was ragged and frustrating to watch. Much of that can be attributed to the players getting into actual game shape and offenses still rounding into form, but excuses tend to fall on deaf ears when your season consists of just 16 of these games. Of course, there are always some players who play well no matter the circumstances…and some teams that don’t. Here’s a look back at the opening week’s contests…

Giants Served it Up…Cold

The New York football Giants avenged 2009’s finale by thrashing the Carolina Panthers, 31-18. Eli Manning was sharp, going 20-30 for 263 yards and a trio of touchdown passes. Yes, he tossed three interceptions, but he can be forgiven for all three; each was actually a pass which should

The Pittsburgh Steelers went into overtime in last year’s season opener against the Tennessee Titans. The same would hold true this year, as the Atlanta Falcons would take the six-time World Champions beyond regulation. “It was a great, hard-fought win,” said Pittsburgh head coach Mike Tomlin. “I like the way our group rode the emotional roller coaster of staying on task throughout.”

However, third-year running back Rashard Mendenall sent the crowd of
