Walter Camp: Denard Robinson Shines Again

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – For the second straight week, University of Michigan sophomore quarterback Denard Robinson (Deerfield Beach, Fla./Deerfield Beach HS) has been named the Walter Camp Football Foundation National Offensive Player of the Week. Robinson collects this week’s honor after racking up 502 yards of total offense in the Wolverines’ 28-24 victory at Notre Dame yesterday.

Robinson led the game-winning 12-play, 72-yard scoring drive against the Irish, capped by his two-yard scoring running with 27 second left in regulation. He accounted for all 72 of the Wolverines yards on the drive, completing 5-of-6 passes for 55 yards and gained 17 rushing yards on six attempts.

Robinson set the Big Ten rushing record for quarterbacks with 258 yards on 28 carries against the Irish. His rushing output is the best road effort ever for a Wolverine ground gainer and the fifth-best single-game effort in school

Scout’s Notebook: Stanford @ UCLA

Stanford UCLA Player Reviews

Stanford looked to set the tone early on offense behind the big arm of Andrew Luck, but his inconsistent play led to an inconsistent offensive performance by the Cardinal. The red-shirt sophomore went 11-24 for 151 yards and a pair of touchdowns at the Rose Bowl Saturday night, and looked uncomfortable in the pocket. He occasionally took off with the ball himself and was elusive, running the ball seven times for 64 yards (nine-yard average).

One of the reasons Luck struggled passing the ball was the strong play by the Bruins’ defensive backs; safeties Rahim Moore and Tony Dye each totaled seven tackles. Moore showed why he is an All-American safety, making great open field tackles throughout the game. He even came off the edge on a blitz and forced Luck to throw an inaccurate pass on third down. Cornerback

Big East Power Rankings/Preview – Week 2

College Football Insiders ranks the Big East after week one and previews week two.

1. West Virginia Mountaineers 1-0, (0-0): Last week: Win vs. Coastal Carolina 31-0 Quarterback Geno Smith was on point in the opener, completing 20 of 27 passes for 216 yards. Smith converted eight first downs among those 20 completions. With all the skill players they have on offense, West Virginia is deserving of the number one spot, even if it is by default.

Up Next: at Marshall – Now that the season has kicked off, the secondary appears to be even better than advertised. The Thundering Herd are no match for the likes of Robert Sands and Terence Garvin. Linebacker and leading tackler from a year ago Pat Lazear is listed as

NFL: Ranking The Head Coaches 2010

GM Rankings HC Rankings OC Rankings DC Rankings NFL Predictions

1.    Bill Belichick, New England Patriots: The man has three Super Bowl rings from the early 2000’s as a gleaming reminder that he is still at the top of the totem pole. A personable and charming interview he is not, but his genius on the gridiron is undeniable. Whether it’s X’s and O’s, game-planning or drafting, Belichick is still top dog.

2.    Mike Shanahan: After a year off from the coaching ranks, Mike Shanahan landed in the nation’s capital to help rebuild a once-storied franchise.  Shanahan has always been great at balancing his offensive approach and his rushing attack is always near the top of the league.

3.    Sean Payton, New Orleans Saints: Prior to winning Super

1.    Ken Whisenhunt, Arizona Cardinals: The Cardinals offense reminds many of the “Greatest Show on Turf” from a decade ago. That is the handiwork of Ken Whisenhunt, whose imaginative play-calling make Arizona one of the deadliest offenses in the league. However, the former tight end may have to tone down his imaginative play calling this season without Kurt Warmer under center.

2.    Charlie Weis, Kansas City Chiefs: Charlie Weis’ last NFL job was creating and guiding the Patriots offense to a couple of Super Bowls. During his years at Notre Dame, his pro-style offense was pretty formidable; it was the rest of the team that couldn’t keep up. Weis’ second tour in the NFL will be with a young

1.    Dick LeBeau, Pittsburgh Steelers: LeBeau is a nightmare for opposing offenses. His teams have been quick, agile, athletic and stout over his tenure in Pittsburgh. After yet another set of top-five finishes in most defensive categories, he is truly the top defensive mind in the game today.

2.    Dom Capers, Green Bay Packers: Capers has been an amazing defensive coordinator in his stops throughout the league, and he transformed the Packers defense into the 2nd ranked unit in 2009. His 3-4 look creates lots of pressure on the quarterback and his physical defensive backs don’t allow much room for the receivers to make plays.

3.    Gregg Williams, New Orleans Saints: The 2008 version of
