TCU Football Announces Award Winners
The TCU football program held its annual team banquet with over 800 people in attendance in the Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
Jerry Hughes became the first defensive player in Horned Frog history and just the fifth overall to be named a two-time recipient of TCU’s Dan Rogers Most Valuable Player award. He also received the honor in 2008.
Previous two-time recipients were quarterback Jeff Ballard (2005-06), tailback LaDainian Tomlinson (1999-00), offensive lineman W.C. Nix (1985-86) and wide receiver Mike Renfro (1976-77).
Hughes was just the second two-time consensus All-American at TCU. He led the Frogs in tackles for loss (16.5) and sacks (11.5) while placing fifth with a career-high 58 stops.
Hughes won the Ted Hendricks Award and Lott Trophy while being a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award and Bronko Nagurski Trophy.

Memphis Final Scrimmage Before Spring Game
MEMPHIS Head coach Larry Porter took his squad to the Liberty Bowl for its second full-scale scrimmage of the spring and used a 125-play scrimmage to gain an assessment of his team as it heads into the final week of spring practice next week. The scrimmage was closed, and Porter explained that in closing the workout, he was able to run some plays and work some scenarios that he wouldn’t normally do in an open practice situation.<br <br “It was okay today,” said Porter. “I expected a little bit more than what I saw but I saw some things that won’t be hard to correct. It all goes back to focus and attention to detail. I can assure you that we will get that all corrected. I would have liked to have seen more rhythm and continuity within our passing game. Vols Go For Special Scrimmage
Tennessee divided its second scrimmage of the spring into two parts Saturday, using a normal game format for the first portion and then focusing on situations over the last 30 minutes.<br

Big Plays in First Kentucky Scrimmage
LEXINGTON, Ky. – The offensive units put some touchdowns on the board and the defense also made some big plays in the first major scrimmage of Kentucky spring football practice, held Saturday afternoon at Commonwealth Stadium.
Quarterbacks Mike Hartline, Morgan Newton and Ryan Mossakowski, who are contending for the starting role, each directed two touchdown drives. The QBs rotated possessions in directing the first- and second-team offensive units.
“I think it was back and forth,” Coach Joker Phillips said. “Early in the scrimmage the offense went up and down the field. What I was concerned with was the defense’s body language. I don’t think we were flying to the ball. Then it went back the other way.

White Earns Fifth-Straight Win MTSU Spring Game
MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The White team pulled away after a close first half and maintained its undefeated record under head coach Rick Stockstill, earning a 56-42 victory Saturday in front of 3,110 in the annual Blue-White Spring Game at Floyd Stadium in Murfreesboro, Tenn. The White team has won all five of the games played since Stockstill took the reins of the program.<br <br "We are very inconsistent," Stockstill noted. "We have a long way to go on both sides of the ball. Wyoming Holds Second Spring Scrimmage
Laramie, Wyo. On a beautiful, sunny morning that felt like a football Saturday in the fall, the Wyoming Cowboys practiced for two hours in War Memorial Stadium on Saturday, with the final hour featuring a 79-play scrimmage that saw the offense win by a score of 61-25.
While the score looked lopsided, the unique scoring system utilized in the scrimmage probably made it look more lopsided than it was. With the No. 1 offenses and defenses facing each other for six series and the No. 2 units also scrimmaging against one another for six series, head coach Dave Christensen was pleased with the progress of his team as the Cowboys concluded their 12th of 15 practices this spring.

NFL: Patrick Kerney Calls It Quits
Seahawks DE Patrick Kerney has changed his mind and will retire from football after all, according to NFL.com’s Steve Wyche.
Draft Impact: This isn’t shocking news, considering reports that Kerney had already held a retirement party in late January. The 33-year-old has enjoyed a solid career and seemed to beon his way to reemerging as one of the league’s premiere pass rushers in 2007, when he notched 14.5 sacks. He was an unstoppable force that season, but major shoulder and elbow injuries over the past two years have convinced him to call it a career. But what does this mean for the Seahawks in terms of their draft?Defensive end was a need even with Kerney in the fold. At this point, Pete Carroll and company may have no choice but to take Derrick Morgan with their sixth pick in the first round, especially if the top two left tackles (<a
