LSU product Charles Scott informed us he visited with the New England Patriots earlier today before jumping on a flight back to Baton Rouge. According to Scott the visit “went well”. It has been a busy week for the former Bayou Bengal—he visited with the Philadelphia Eagles and worked out for the Cleveland Browns earlier in the week. He will tack on some more frequent flyer miles tomorrow when he heads to Indianapolis for a medical re-check. The 238-pound Scott—AKA Chuck the Truck—is the NFL Draft Bible’s 16th ranked running back and is projected to go on day three of the draft. Scott was not cleared medically to participate in the Senior Bowl and did not do the bench press at the NFL Scouting Combine because of his shoulder injury.

Draft Buzz: Lamarr Houston Accepts NYC Invite
Lamarr Houston revealed to the NFL Draft Bible that he has accepted an invitation to New York to be part of the draft festivities. Houston said in a phone conversation that he is excited to visit the Big Apple. Because of his versatility the former Texas Longhorn is of interest to all 32 teams—Houston has experience playing both defensive end and defensive tackle, which should allow him to fit in either a 3-4 or 4-3 defensive scheme. As for what teams he has visited with or worked out for, Houston is playing it close to the vest. Currently, Houston is the 11th ranked defensive tackle by NFL Draft Bible and holds a late second/early third round grade.
NFL: Vikings Plan B…Matt Hasselbeck?
Charley Walters, of the Pioneer Press, reports the Minnesota Vikings’ lone remaining option to find a starting quarterback, should QB Brett Favre retire, would seem to be Seattle Seahawks QB Matt Hasselbeck. If the Seahawks made Hasselbeck available for the right deal, a trade would be expected either immediately before or after the NFL Draft.

Draft Diamond: Jonathan Crompton, Tennessee
Following his senior season, many thought Tennessee quarterback Jonathan Crompton was lock to go to the NFL Combine. After his performance at the Texas vs. the Nation Game, there was no doubt about it. Well, he never got that invite.
“It was a bummer, that is for sure, but God has a plan,” said Crompton. “I think it ultimately it helped me because not a lot of the guys threw at the combine. It helped me to get a number of teams at my pro day.”
As a senior Crompton led Tennessee to the Chick-fil-A Bowl and ended his senior season with 2,800 passing yards and 27 touchdowns while completing 58 percent of his passes.
“This year’s offensive system was my favorite offense because it was an NFL system,” said Crompton.

Tebow Tracker: Interest Flares Up
The Cleveland Browns, who have the seventh overall pick in the April 22-24 draft, reportedly are meeting with Tim Tebow.
This comes two days after the Philadelphia Eagles, who select 24th in the first round, joined the Tebow party, according to Sports Illustrated’s Peter King.
The Bills have shown interest in Tebow for weeks, possibly as a first-rounder with the No. 9 overall selection. Keep an eye on the Seattle Seahawks, who have the No. 6 selection. Seattle’s pretty high on Tebow, according to reports.
One NFL Scout Shows Up For Myron Rolle
In front of one NFL scout but plenty of cameras, family and friends, Rolle ran the 40 in 4.5 seconds, improving on his terrible times at the NFL combine in February, when he posted a 4.73 and 4.68.
Brandon James Joins Cunningham at Pro Day
Florida’s second Pro Day of the spring quietly took place on the practice field Wednesday morning with four draft-eligible former Gators — defensive end Jermaine Cunningham, wide receiver/kick returner Brandon James, cornerback Markihe Anderson and cornerback Wondy Pierre-Louis who worked out in front of about a dozen NFL scouts.
In his first (and maybe last) chance to impress the scouts, Cunningham, who weighed in at 269 was put through an extensive workout Wednesday, starting off with the broad jump and vertical jump in the weight room and ending with a variety of agility drills on the practice field. In between, he ran the 40-yard dash twice. Cunningham, ran his first 40 in 4.92 seconds. He fell at the end of his second run after tweaking a quadriceps muscle. Despite injury (he was still recovering from shoulder surgery he underwent on Jan. 4.), Cunningham pushed through the rest of the
