Anthony Davis, a top left tackle prospect out of Rutgers, did not finish participating in the team’s pro day, and will workout again for NFL scouts on March 30, according to his agent, Sunny Shah.
Shah sent the following email to all NFL clubs alerting them to the change:
Anthony Davis, left tackle from Rutgers University, will be conducting a private workout at Rutgers University on March 30, 2010 from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Anthony will be available for positional drills, measurements, and one-on-one meetings with any NFL personnel. Measurements and meetings will be done at the Hale Center and the positional workout will be conducted at the practice bubble. Anthony was unable to workout at the initial Rutgers Pro Day held on March 10, due to a sore hamstring and a stomach virus. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Sam Bradford Pro Day: Read & React
Here’s a look at what NFL personnel who were in attendance are saying about Sam Bradford’s private workout, which has drawn rave reviews and solidified his stock as a franchise quarterback:
Gil Brandt—
“He put on the best quarterback workout by a draft prospect that I’ve seen since I watched a private workout Troy Aikman put on for us with the Cowboys in California.”
Billy Devaney—
“Really positive. I thought the whole workout was positive, I think he answered a lot of questions for a lot of people today. It’s another piece, it’s an important piece but it’s a piece.”
Pete Carroll—
“He hit every ball, he was dead on it and looked great. This is what you’d hope happens and he did a beautiful job. He lived up to it. He did what he needed to do today. It’s a big day for Sam, too,
Draft Watch: Tebow Visits Bills, Meets With Jim Kelly
The Buffalo Bills got an up-close-and-personal look at the most headline-grabbing prospect in the NFL Draft on Monday.
Florida quarterback Tim Tebow was among about a dozen college prospects who visited One Bills Drive.
Tebow’s visit included dinner with Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly on Sunday evening. Every NFL team is allowed to bring 30 draft prospects to its facility for visits in the weeks leading up to the draft.
Other teams on Tebow’s visit schedule include the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns and Seattle Seahawks. The Washington Redskins worked out Tebow in Gainesville, Fla., 10 days ago.
Report: Interest Heats Up For LeFevour
Dan LeFevour’s NFL draft rumors continue to heat up, with the Kansas City Chiefs and Cleveland Browns considered the most interested.
Given the uncertainty surrounding quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, the Pittsburgh Steelers are understandably also looking into drafting a quarterback. But the Steelers do not have a high draft pick to get one of the top first-round quarterbacks, leaving them hoping to land a second-tier quarterback in the later rounds.
The Steelers have a history with Mid-American Conference quarterbacks, going with Roethlisberger, from Miami of Ohio, and Charlie Batch, from Eastern Michigan.
NFL: Niners QB Competition Underway
No. 1 overall selections in the NFL draft three years apart, Alex Smith and David Carr are now competing to be the No. 1 quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers.
That competition began in earnest Monday when the 49ers conducted their first organized team activity practice of 2010. The team went to work without departed general manager Scot McCloughan, who left last week in what 49ers president Jed York called a “mutual parting.”
As the incumbent quarterback, Smith clearly is in the early lead, with Carr in the background becoming familiar with his new surroundings but also preparing for a shot at the job.
