Think of the all the college prospects looking to take that jump to the National Football League. On April 28th in New York City, 256 players will hear their name called and have their life-long dream fulfilled.

Early success at the college level helps put these players on the radar screen years later, when the draft process is in full swing. We’re already familiar with many of the names because we’ve watched them shine on the college stage.

But here’s a question for you – where is Harding University? Unless you live in Searcy, Arkansas you most likely wouldn’t know, although I’m pretty sure you could tell me the state associated with every football program in the Big Ten Conference. Playing for Coach Jim Tressel and the Ohio State Buckeyes in Columbus, Ohio brings with it priceless exposure when draft time comes around. Harding Bison’s

Q&A: Jeff Tarpinian, Iowa

You began your high school career as a QB, how did you transition to linebacker at Iowa?

Yes, I played more of an option QB. Once I came to Iowa, the coaches, specifically Coach (Chris) Doyle, thought my best position would be on defense. I started at safety and as I put on weight, about 40 pounds, eventually moved to linebacker.

I actually grew up in both Nebraska and Houston (for about 10 years). I returned to Nebraska for high school and had already committed to Iowa my junior year. But yes, Nebraska was my team. However, I had two former teammates playing for Iowa while I was still in high school (Seth Olsen and Adam Shada), so I

Q&A: Julian Vandervelde, Iowa

So let’s start off. I have to ask, how did a starting guard on the Iowa football team get an opportunity to sing the national anthem for President Obama when he was campaigning in Iowa?<br

A good friend of mine from high school, who at the time was in charge of the campaign in Iowa, he and I both were in a musical production together. So he knew I could sing, and when the opportunity presented itself I immediately said yes. I was able to briefly meet the President and also get a photo opportunity. It was a great experience.
<br So I guess when the veteran players try to haze you during training camp, singing your college fight song won't be that difficult?
<br

Not really. (laughs)
<br Another interesting story I have to ask about is your experience playing in the

CFI: Miami Hurricanes Spring Game

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL On a blustery day at Lockart Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida the new-look Miami Hurricanes, led by first-year coach Al Golden, played with heart and emotion on both sides of the ball. Coach Golden allowed a few fans to choose the teams this year and the Green team, led by Stephen Morris and coached by Defensive Coordinator Mark D’Onofrio, defeated Jed Fisch, Jacory Harris and the Orange team 30-17.

There were plenty of big plays and hard hits but to say that the play was sloppy for most of the day would be an understatement. Spring games are what they are, yet many of the 11,254 fans that were watching expected the quarterback play to at least be improved
