Rookie Review: Green Bay Packers

2010 NFL Draft Class–

(1-23) Bryan Bulaga, OT, Iowa: He was forced into the starting lineup early in the season and was serviceable but wasn’t the dominant lineman he was purported to be going into last year’s draft. The former Big Ten standout allowed more pressures than any other Packer on the front five and didn’t blow people off the line on run plays. Speed rushers, in particular, gave him fits (see Woodley, LaMarr). Bulaga clearly needs another year at his new position to truly blossom. Grade: C-

(2-56) Mike Neal, DE, Purdue: The kid immediately showed the coaching staff that he has the strength of a bear and the work ethic to go along with it. Neal got off to a fast start by recording a sack and a forced fumble in his first two games but also suffered a torn rotator cuff, which prematurely ended his

Taiwan Jones | Set To Workout April 14th

Eastern Washington running back Taiwan Jones will hold a highly anticipated pro day workout on Thursday, April 14th. One of the more intriguing prospects in the draft, Jones is a small school mystery with big play capability.

The 6-foot, 195-pound speedster averaged a remarkable 7.7 yards per carry for his Eagles career and flashed the break-away speed that many believe will make him a home run threat at the next level. However, there are many question marks surrounding the durability of the California native.

While some will question his inferior level of play at the FCS level, the real concern with Jones surrounds his medical records. A broken left foot late in December prevented him from working out at the NFL Scouting Combine. He was also limited earlier in the season by an abdominal contusion that forced him to sit out a game.

Team Needs: Green Bay Packers

2011 NFL Draft–

  • OL – The Packers’ offensive line improved in the 2010 season by giving up 25% fewer sacks than the previous year, when the allowed a league worst 51 sacks. If they want to have a chance to repeat as Super Bowl champs next season, the key will be keeping Aaron Rodgers on the playing field. Look for Green Bay to add depth to the offensive line this offseason.
  • DE – Although the Packers have one of the best pass-rushing teams in the league, they are only average when it comes to stopping the run. Opposing teams averaged 115 rushing yards per game this past season. With Cullen Jenkins becoming an unrestricted free agent this offseason, Green Bay may look to the talented stock of defensive ends in the upcoming draft.
  • WR – It is surprising to realize that 2010 was Donald
