2011 NFL Draft–
- OG – Many of the problems along the offensive line resided on the interior and the result was major leakage. Quarterback Chad Henne had little protection in the passing game, the running game was atrocious and the offense as a whole was downright putrid. An overweight Vernon Carey struggled with injuries, forcing Richie Incognito into action at guard. Rookie John Jerry was thrust into the fire and started 10 games but is still a work in progress. Miami could choose to re-sign Pat McQuistan but he is more of a backup in an ideal world. Creating some depth on the offensive line, specifically at the guard position, will be the first step in rebuilding the offense for new coordinator Brian Daboll. It will also allow

2010 NFL Draft Class–
(1-10) Tyson Alualu, DT, California: While many questioned taking the Honolulu native with a top-10 pick, Jacksonville GM Gene Smith got the last laugh as his prized selection came through with flying colors. Alualu’s persistence in fighting through blocks was a key component in helping the rookie collapse the pocket…even against double teams. The controversial first-round pick was also very adept at reading his pre-snap keys. In addition, the lineman’s versatility in playing the three, five or even zero technique was a big plus. His ability to disengage from blockers still needs to improve. Grade: A-
(3-74) D’Anthony Smith, DT, Louisiana Tech: An Achilles tear in training camp deprived the Jaguars of the services of a versatile defender who’s very quick out of his stance
Pro Day: Teryl White Flashes Quicks | NC Central
DE/DT Teryl White (6042, 303) had a solid workout at North Carolina Central’s pro day on Wednesday. Players were forced to run in the gym on the slippery basketball court due to bad weather conditions.
White was timed in the 4.92–4.96 range in the forty and bench pressed 225 pounds 23 times. He also registered a 29.5” vertical jump and 9’ broad jump, showcasing his athleticism for a big man.
While he is not expected to get drafted, White is an under the radar priority free agent-type that has a good chance to make an NFL roster. The St. Louis Rams and Houston Texans were on hand to watch the workout.

2011 NFL Draft–
- CB – The Al Davis-led Raiders are playing with fire with their sudden decision to void the contract of Nnamdi Asomugha due to a clause, allowing the All Pro corner to hit the open market. Oakland took some precautionary measures with the re-signing of Stanford Routt, who is coming off an exceptional season. The mediocre play of backups Chris Johnson and Walter McFadden was alarming, neither player should be counted on to step up and start. Luckily, Davis has had a keen eye for landing corners in the draft.
- OG – Starting left guard Robert Gallery is the main free agent cog along the offensive line that could leave a gaping hole to fill. Second-year pro Bruce Campbell showed glimpses of his athleticism and flashed ability to at

2010 NFL Draft Class–
(1-8) Rolando McClain, ILB, Alabama: The big linebacker had an introductory season in the NFL that was a mixed bag. While he did make a number of vicious hits (see Amendola, Danny), at times McClain appeared slow and unable to get off blocks. The Silver and Black can take solace in the fact that McClain ended his season on a high note, as evidenced by a dominant performance versus San Diego in which he read and attacked numerous running plays. The young enforcer must also do a better job of staying out of trouble off the field. Grade: C
(2-44) Lamarr Houston, DT, Texas: The college defensive tackle posted five sacks in his rookie campaign and looked like a natural as a 4-3 end. The long-armed lineman
Pro Day: Jake Locker Offers Risk/Reward | UW
Quarterback Jake Locker took stage front and center for 20 NFL teams Wednesday at the University of Washington pro day workout. The two-sport athlete threw about 40 passes, with just two over-thrown deep balls, according to various sources. Surprisingly, Locker did not attempt any snaps from under center, according to FOX Sports.
The entire Seahawks coaching staff was in attendance, as was Chris Palmer the new offensive coordinator for the Titans, whom Locker will workout for on Thursday. That will be followed by a workout for the Broncos on Friday– Locker conducted a workout for the Vikings earlier this month.
Most NFL Draft prognosticators remain convinced that Locker will still land in the first round but there is a growing sentiment around league circles that his best sport may ultimately be baseball, especially if there is a lengthened lockout and he doesn’t get to participate in

San Diego Chargers: Team Needs Rookie Review On The Clock Insider Podcast
2011 NFL Draft–
- ILB – While it is believed that San Diego will retain Stephen Cooper, the chances of Kevin Burnett and Brandon Siler both re-signing appear unlikely. Even if the Chargers are able to retain one of the two, depth is going to be a huge concern if the team is unable to find some bodies to compete. The future of last year’s third round pick Donald Butler remains up in the air as he continues to rehab from a torn Achilles tendon. Utilizing a draft pick on this position again this year might be a wise decision.
- OT – San Diego resolved their contract dispute with Marcus McNeill, which provides long-term stability for Rivers’ blindside, but an upgrade at right tackle would be in the team’s best

2010 NFL Draft Class–
(1-12) Ryan Mathews, RB, Fresno State: He didn’t come out of the gates as strongly as many expected him to. In addition to ball security issues caused by holding the ball too far from his body, Mathews must also learn how to be a more patient back. He has the tools to be a star if he simply follows his blocks to get through the first level. The developing runner did make some strides during the last quarter of the season. From the sound of things, he’s working really hard to correct his flaws. Grade: C
(3-79) Donald Butler, ILB, Washington: Butler was enjoying a fine training camp before suffering a season-ending achilles tendon injury. He is an athletic defender who beats blockers more with his
Pro Day: Teams Ask Moore To Play CB | UCLA
Underclassmen Rahim Moore and Akeem Ayers both took advantage of their pro days at UCLA. Moore chose not to run the 40-yard dash Tuesday and stood on his respectable combine times of 4.53 and 4.62 seconds. It’s a little concerning that he didn’t attempt to improve the numbers, but the rest of his workout was very good, especially the drills.
While many view Rahim Moore as the top safety heading into April’s draft, he is projected as a second-round selection and there are teams that consider Texas cornerback Aaron Williams a better safety prospect. What makes this even more intriguing is the fact that Moore claims other NFL scouts have talked about him playing cornerback in their system, which isn’t out of the question.
Linebacker Akeem Ayers had to redo the 40-yard dash due to his abysmal times in Indianapolis and he ran an unofficial 4.76
