NFL Draft Watch: Sammy Watkins Arrested

Clemson All-American wide receiver Sammy Watkins was arrested on May 4th for possession of marijuana and a controlled substance. The sophomore was driving with fellow soccer player Amadou-Tidiane Daniel Dia when they were pulled over. A copy of the police report was obtained and stated:

The men were arrested when police stopped the car Watkins was driving after an officer saw it scrape against a curb on campus and because the temporary license was not illuminated.  When the officer pulled the car over in a parking lot off Common Court, he smelled marijuana.  During a search he found marijuana and two pills for which Watkins did not have a prescription.

After a phenomenal freshman season in which he burst onto the national radar, Watkins led Clemson with 82 catches for 1,219 yards and 12 touchdowns. “I made a mistake last night and I’m

Senior Bowl: Phil Savage Named Exec Director

Mobile, AL. (May 2)—The Phil Savage era is underway at the Senior Bowl.  Savage was formally introduced as the fifth executive director in the game’s 62-year history at a press conference Wednesday afternoon at the Battle House Hotel in downtown Mobile.  He’ll officially assume his duties on June 1.  The Mobile native and former NFL front office executive expressed his excitement for his new role in his hometown while meeting with the media Wednesday.

“It’s a rare opportunity where you have a choice to leave one great situation for another great situation,” Savage said.  “It doesn’t happen very much in the NFL, usually they tell you when you have to leave.  This time I got a chance to call (Eagles GM) Howie (Roseman) and say: ‘This is what I plan on doing and these are the reasons why’, and I think he absolutely understands

2012 NFL Draft: Diamond Hunters | UDFA

Here are three players from the 2012 NFL Draft class who went undrafted but should not be forgotten.

Bills – QB Aaron Corp, Richmond

Overlooked and under-valued, Corp has a strong understanding of a pro-style offense and is highly intelligent, which head coach Chan Gailey will love. Current backup Tyler Thigpen is just that, nothing more. With the addition of Corp, Buffalo has a developmental quarterback who can serve as an insurance policy down the road should Ryan Fitzpatrick falter or fall victim to injury, something he battled through last season and affected him badly. Corp was one of the most highly recruited quarterbacks coming out of high school and landed at USC with Pete Carroll before his transfer to Richmond. He won’t wow you with arm strength but he can make all the throws. Chan Gailey knows how to develop quarterbacks, so expect him

2012 NFL Draft: Diamond Hunters | Offense

Here’s a look at three diamonds in the rough selected on day three who could become key factors on the offense side of the ball for their respective teams.

Rd.4No.97: Dolphins – RB Lamar Miller, Miami

Although the team spent a second round pick on running back Daniel Thomas a year ago, the Dolphins felt the need for an insurance policy in case they opt not to re-sign Reggie Bush after the 2012 season. Entering his seventh season, Bush has failed to play an entire 16 game season since his rookie year. With the addition of Miller, Miami can afford to let Bush walk away if they so desire and maintain Thomas, who will fill the role as short yardage role. Look for Miller to flourish when opportunity arises!

Rd.5No.159: Steelers – RB Chris Rainey, Florida
