PITTSBURGH, PA-Back on February 27th at the NFL Scouting Combine, a former dual-threat Florida quarterback excited scouts with his combine performance. It was a performance that placed the signal caller in the top tier of the quarterback drills. Wait, did you think the former Florida quarterback was Cam Newton? My apologies. Actually, the former dual-threat Florida quarterback I was referring to is Josh Portis.
Both Portis and Newton started their careers at Florida, and both suffered setbacks off the field. However, it’s their awe-inspiring on-field performances that eventually led to both quarterbacks to Lucas Oil Stadium, where they would share the spotlight at the NFL Scouting Combine under the watchful eyes of NFL observers.
