Patriots Find New Weapons In Rookie TE Duo

Mancini’s take on the performance of rookie tight ends Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Hernandez in New England’s 28-10 preseason win over the Atlanta Falcons: The rookie duo did a fantastic job on Thursday night with Hernandez looking like more of the downfield threat with wide receiver skills and Gronkowski playing the role of the traditional tight end who’s big enough to tangle with defensive linemen, but also be a factor in the passing game. LeGarrette Blount Lands Another Hook

This punch won’t be so costly for LeGarrette Blount. The rookie running back capped off a feisty night practice for the Tennessee Titans with a short punch to the helmet of defensive end Erik Bakhtiari a few moments after having his own helmet ripped off for the second time in as many plays. Blount had just returned to the Titans on Wednesday night after being excused since Sunday for personal reasons. He was carrying the ball in a drill near the goal line when his helmet came off, and he kept his feet moving toward the end zone. The play ended with some pushing and shoving, then Blount threw a right into Bakhtiari’s facemask. Blount quickly talked to coach Jeff Fisher before leaving the field. “He apologized, and I said he didn’t have to apologize,” Fisher said. “It’s football. It’s training camp.” Blount was suspended by the University of Oregon

Moffitt talked to agents, who told him he could be picked as high as the third or fourth round. “I called him up [UW coach Bret Bielema and was like, ‘Coach, thanks for everything, but I’m going to move on,’ he said. Moffitt never signed anything or committed to an agent. But he was getting advice from one. “I don’t know if it was the best advice,” he said. It’s an example of how persuasive agents can be, especially catching an athlete at a vulnerable time. Moffitt also worried his pectoral muscle wasn’t completely healed for the bench press he would have to perform for scouts. As it turns out,
