Keeping Tabs On Tebow | QB Mentor CommentsFormer offensive coordinator of the Browns and current Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman spent part of the winter helping Tim Tebow get the kinks out of his delivery. He recently spoke with The News-Herald and had the following to say: “In the last few weeks, I’ve read Tony Dungy put a draft round (a second-round choice) on him,” Trestman said Friday in a phone interview. “Pete Carroll and John Fox have come out very positively about him. I don’t know that I’m the only one who has the sense of Tim’s ability to be developed and become a very good player in the league. “I believe in the right environment Tim Tebow will figure this out. He doesn’t have explosive arm strength, but he has more than adequate arm strength to throw the ball in the NFL and make all the throws. I saw him do something Draft Watch: Jared Odrick SkyrocketingThe new name to watch as a contender for the Browns’ first draft choice is Penn State defensive lineman Jared Odrick, according to the Cleveland Plain Dealer. “He’s a guy who’s gained significant traction on NFL draft boards and the Browns are right on him,” said a league source. The Browns have worked out Odrick privately, who is considered a perfect end in the Browns’ 3-4 defense and also plan to bring him to Berea before the draft. “You’re talking a defensive lineman that does not have any fat on him,” said the source. “He’s all muscle. He’s a tailor-made Patriots type of player. Richard Seymour-type. He’s perfect for what the Browns do on their defensive line.” Pro Day: WR Mike Williams of SyracuseWIVB.com reports Syracuse wide receiver Mike Williams was clocked at 4.55 seconds in the 40-yard dash Monday at his private pro day in Western New York. His vertical jump was measured at 37-inches, four inches better than his jump at the Combine. Scouts from the Bills, San Diego, Green Bay, Tampa Bay, and Cleveland were on the hand for the workout. Most draft experts project Williams as a potential 2nd or 3rd rounder but could slide even further due to character issues. Draft Diamond: Ryan Perriloux, Jacksonville St.The road to the NFL has been a long one for quarterback of Ryan Perrilloux of Jacksonville State. He was a member of the 2007 National Championship team at LSU, but because of off-the-field issues, he transferred to Jacksonville State. As a junior he started all 11 games and was responsible for 26 touchdowns—19 passing and seven rushing—while completing 187 of his 297 passes for 2,318 yards. The numbers earned him Second-Team All-OVC and OVC All-Newcomer Honors. This season he passed for 2,350 yards and 23 touchdowns and only threw two interceptions the entire season. He also rushed for 443 yards and eight touchdowns. Perrilloux knows what he needs to work on as far as the NFL is concerned. “In this process, NFL teams have asked me if I could come in and handle being a fourth-string quarterback, and I have told them yes. I just want to |
