Florida quarterback Tim Tebow remains undecided about whether or not he will attend the NFL draft next month in New York, according to his agent, Jimmy Sexton, who said Tuesday that he was in contact with league officials, Jason LaConfora of NFL.com reports.

Sexton said that with the draft now spread over three days the first round is scheduled for Thursday, April 22 in primetime “they’re a lot more flexible” about what a player would have to do while in New York. Sexton said prospects attending the draft must be in New York by the Tuesday of draft week, but during the event itself, they would have a lot more freedom to leave the green room, return to their hotel and work with the league about how long the player would attend should he begin to slip out of the first round.

Kyle Orton remains the Denver Broncos’ starting quarterback, and Brady Quinn will have to unseat him if he wants to be under center when the season starts in six months.

“He is our starter. There is no question,” Broncos coach Josh McDaniels said of his incumbent quarterback Tuesday at the AFC coaches’ breakfast in Orlando, Fla., reiterating what he has stated both privately and publicly since acquiring Quinn from the Cleveland Browns on March 13.

McDaniels said Orton deserves to keep his job based on his performance last season, when he threw for 3,802 yards and 21 touchdowns with 12 interceptions.

A lot has been made of Quinn’s familiarity with McDaniels’ system because his college coach was Charlie Weis, who served as McDaniels’ offensive mentor during his days as a New England Patriots assistant.

NFL ANNOUNCES 32 COMPENSATORY DRAFT CHOICES TO 19 CLUBS

A total of 32 compensatory choices in the 2010 NFL Draft have been awarded to 19 teams, the NFL announced today.

 

Under terms of the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks.

 

The number of picks a team receives equals the net loss of compensatory free agents up to a maximum of four.  The 32 compensatory choices announced today will supplement the 223 choices in the seven rounds of the 2010 NFL Draft (April 22-24).  This year, the compensatory picks will be positioned within the third through seventh rounds based on the value of the compensatory free agents lost.

 

Compensatory free agents are determined by a formula based on salary, playing time and postseason honors.  The formula was developed by the NFL Management

Jimmy Clausen won’t throw. Golden Tate probably won’t run the 40-yard dash. Sam Young won’t lift. And first-year Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly won’t even so much as eavesdrop.

Still, there’ll be enough activity at ND’s Pro Day Tuesday at the Loftus Center that NFL scouts representing anywhere from 20 to 32 teams will show up and take notes.

Seniors from the 2009 team who will get their first chance to entrance scouts are running back James Aldridge, safety Sergio Brown, offensive tackle Paul Duncan, cornerback Raeshon McNeil, wide receiver Robby Parris, defensive end Morrice Richardson and linebackers Scott Smith and Toryan Smith.
