The Redskins Considering Terrelle Pryor?

According to several website reports, the Washington Redskins will possibly show interest in Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor if he enters the 2011 NFL supplemental draft.

Mancini’s Take: Really? I hope they don’t invest anything more than next year’s seventh-round pick to secure his services…and even that may be too much. Truth be told, I don’t see Pryor as a quarterback at the next level since he’s much better runner than passer. As mentioned in a previous post, the 6’6” triggerman does not show the consistency to throw the ball accurately downfield nor does he have the ability to read defenders in both man-to-man and zone coverage. If you’ve watched his games, you’ve seen him fail to detect linemen dropping back into coverage and he lacks the touch to fit the ball into tight spots on a regular basis. When you combine all

Bill Hancock On Discussions With The DOJ

STATEMENT BY BILL HANCOCK ON DISCUSSIONS WITH THE US DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE ON THE BOWL CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES:
<br “Late last week staff attorneys at the Department of Justice Antitrust Division (DOJ) contacted me to request a voluntary background briefing on how the BCS operates.  I told them I would be happy to provide it."
<br “The briefing will occur sometime this summer.  No specific date has been set."
<br “The BCS was carefully created with antitrust laws in mind, and I am confident that it is fully compliant with those laws.  It has improved competition by delivering a national championship game between the two top-ranked teams, which only rarely existed before the BCS. It has also dramatically increased access to top-tier bowl games for schools from non-AQ conferences.  I look forward to a conversation with the attorneys at the Justice Department.”

Insider-Big 12 Prospect Watch | Names To Know

NFL Draft Guru Joe Everett previews some of the Big 12 prospects on the NFL radar:

#7 GARRETT GILBERT – QB – TEXAS: The developing Gilbert has prototype size for the position with the ability to survey the field and deliver the football on time.  His accuracy is above average and he puts enough zip on the football to complete the difficult sideline out throws. The Austin native has a tendency to stare down his receivers which has led to a lot of batted passes and interceptions, as he tied a school record with five interceptions against Kansas State last season.  He has the mobility and deceptive speed to make plays outside of the pocket and was required to run more often than not last season.  If Gilbert can improve his decision making and do a better job of making reads during his junior year,

Lance Kendricks | "Like A Man Possessed"

Lance Kendricks “Like A Man Possessed”<br Rookie Lance Kendricks has been turning heads in workouts with the Rams, according to Tony Softli of ESPN 101 St. Louis. The source noted that Kendricks “ran like a man possessed.” Kendricks caught everything thrown in his direction and “displayed the size-speed combination that safeties will struggle with covering deep.”

Mancini’s Take: To those who have regularly watched the former Badger, the athleticism he’s currently showcasing was never in doubt. The 243-pound Kendricks is essentially a big receiver. He runs precise routes and makes explosive plays down the seam and in the flat, as well as being able to haul in tough catches along the sideline. Plus, when he tracks the ball over his shoulder he looks and moves a lot like a receiver. The one flaw I see with him as a pass catcher is that he

Adrian Clayborn | Impressive In Workouts

Adrian Clayborn Impressive In Workouts

Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy said he has been impressed with how DE Adrian Clayborn has performed during the workouts this week. “He is a hard worker. He definitely is. I can definitely see why he was the [Bucs’] first pick,” said McCoy. “He definitely is a hard-worker that has been trying to keep up with me every step of the way.”

Mancini’s Take: Clayborn flat out dominated games as a junior with his rich arsenal of pass-rush moves and ability to chase plays laterally. No one could ever question his motor, but some have doubted what type of player he’ll be at the next level after a senior season that fell short of people’s expectations. As someone who watched the 6’3”, 281-pound end on weekly basis last season, his problem wasn’t that he

All Systems Go for QB Dan Persa

Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa remains ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn Achilles tendon. Persa has been running for the last month and is expected to step up the rehab in the coming weeks.  “The next thing I’m going to start is more like cutting and side-to-side agility work, building strength in my ankles (in the next couple of weeks),” Persa said. “Hopefully by the middle of May, end of May, I’ll be pretty much full-go.”

Mancini’s Take: I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Persa is one of the more exciting quarterbacks in the nation. He’s the engine that keeps that Wildcat offense running when you consider that he isn’t surrounded by a plethora of elite teammates at the skill positions. His play faking and burst as a scrambler make him a formidable weapon to defend. His arm won’t remind anyone of Brett Favre, but
