Speaking at a prostate cancer awareness engagement in Florham Park, NJ yesterday, former New York Giants Hall of Famer Harry Carson touched on several topics about the organization he helped earn two rings for entering the 2010 season.

With Tom Coughlin on the hot seat, there is no doubt that this is a make-it-or-break year for the New York Giants. Troy wide receiver Jerrel Jernigan (5’9, 185) told The Dothan Eagle that he has high hopes for the upcoming season, one being a desire to nab 1,200 or 1,300 yards receiving.

The Trojan Warrior earned First Team All-Sun Belt wide receiver and all-purpose player last season with his 1,101 yard performance and is on target to set the all-time school mark for receiving yards and receptions.

He currently owns a late-round grade but if Jernigan achieves the lofty expectations he has set for himself, it is possible he could very well wind up being a mid round selection.

In the first of what many think will be several transfers from USC, Georgia picked up linebacker Jarvis Jones.  Per an NCAA waiver, Jones will be eligible to play right away, which will help boost the new 3-4 Georgia defense.

According to reports, the 6-foot-4, 235-pound Jones also considered Florida State, Clemson, Alabama and North Carolina.

Jones missed the final five games of the season last year due to a neck/spine injury but has since been medically cleared to play. He’ll have a long climb to earn himself a draftable grade but he has a few seasons to do so.

Look for more USC players to take advantage of the NCAA waiver and make moves soon.

Wide receiver Marcus Easley has signed a four-year contract with the Buffalo Bills, according to multiple sources.

There’s just no telling how far Easley can go. The word out of Buffalo is that he is in the mix to start opposite of Lee Evans. The Bills made no attempt to bring back leading receiver Terrell Owens and rid themselves of Josh Reed, which has blown the door open wide open for Easley to step-in and start immediately.

His journey could take him from UConn walk-on, to fourth round draft pick and possibly land as a rookie starter in the NFL. This kid seems like the ultimate overachiever.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have announced they have released safety DaMon Cromartie-Smith.

The Houston Texans waived quarterback Tyler Sheehan, offensive tackle Adam Ulatoski, wide receiver London Crawford, offensive guard Kristian Matte, linebacker Will Patterson, and fullback Jack Corcoran.

Of the bunch, Ulatoski and Corcoran have the best shot to latch on to a practice squad somewhere.
