Our Number Two Prospect In College Football…

The countdown continues and our number two prospect in college football is…

Quarterback Jake Locker, Washington (Senior):

Pros: With Locker’s combination of arm strength and athletic ability, many believed he would have challenged Sam Bradford as the number one overall pick in the 2010 NFL Draft had the Husky declared. The Washington native has the type of zip on his passes necessary to fit the ball in tight spots, as well as make all the throws required in the NFL. Locker also has the ability to create a throwing window in any situation, easily manipulating his release point to ensure the ball will not be batted down. When he gets the time to set his feet within the pocket and play with proper footwork the Pac-10 product has little

NFL: Another Bengal in the Slammer

WLWT Cincinnati reports that Bengals WR Maurice Purify was arrested at 2AM Tuesday morning for disorderly conduct. Purify was taken into custody following a skirmish at Jefferson Hall, a bar in Newport (KY).

Mancini’s Take: Do you think the Bengals are having second thoughts about pursuing Adam “Pacman” Jones after hearing about this? Knowing them, probably not. Ending up behind bars is nothing new for Purify, who was arrested twice during his days as a Nebraska Cornhusker, as well as being suspended by his team. What’s happens now to the troubled receiver is irrelevant. His chances of making the team were already slim and this latest incident makes him radioactive. The fact is the Bengals should have never brought him in as a rookie free agent back in 2008. It’s somewhat plausible to imagine a team rolling the dice on one, maybe two, problem individuals with checkered pasts, but Cincy has

NFL: Jags Set Sights On Brady Quinn

Josina Anderson of FOX 31 Denver reports that the Jaguars have interest in Brady Quinn and an unnamed pass rusher on the Broncos’ roster.

Mancini’s Take: As the football world is still scratching its head and trying to make sense of the first-round pick wasted on Tim Tebow, Denver needs to eliminate the existing logjam at the quarterback position. Tebow is the prized rookie, who’ll eventually be handed the starting job (you would think), while Kyle Orton is the mediocre placeholder with Tom Brandstater serving as the trusty third-stringer. So, where does that leave Quinn? The Myoplex poster boy was once a highly regarded first-round pick himself and he seriously wants one more chance to be some team’s face of the franchise. But it’s probably not happening in the MileHigh City. Moving him to Jacksonville makes a lot of sense. The Cats are losing patience with the physically gifted, but pedestrian

Our Number One Prospect In College Football…

The countdown begins and our top prospect in college football is…

Quarterback Andrew Luck, Stanford (Red-Shirt Sophomore):

Pros: What stands out immediately about Luck is that he has one of the quickest throwing motions since Dan Marino. When Luck lets it fly his passes are laser fast and accurate—truly beautiful. Aside from that, Luck has quintessential NFL measurables; he is 6’4” and 230-plus pounds, very intelligent and instinctual.  The red-shirt sophomore has wonderful footwork in his drop backs and when throwing the football. Luck has light and graceful feet that give him unexpected mobility, allowing him to almost glide through the pocket to avoid would-be sackers (he was sacked only six times in 2009). At Stanford, he is currently playing in a pro-style offense and getting pro-style coaching under
