All Systems Go for QB Dan Persa

Northwestern quarterback Dan Persa remains ahead of schedule in his rehab from a torn Achilles tendon. Persa has been running for the last month and is expected to step up the rehab in the coming weeks.  “The next thing I’m going to start is more like cutting and side-to-side agility work, building strength in my ankles (in the next couple of weeks),” Persa said. “Hopefully by the middle of May, end of May, I’ll be pretty much full-go.”

Mancini’s Take: I don’t think it’s a stretch to say that Persa is one of the more exciting quarterbacks in the nation. He’s the engine that keeps that Wildcat offense running when you consider that he isn’t surrounded by a plethora of elite teammates at the skill positions. His play faking and burst as a scrambler make him a formidable weapon to defend. His arm

Behind The Scenes At The NFL Hall of Fame

The invitation has been sent. Make it by plane, train or automobile to Canton, Ohio for the 2011 Pro Football Hall of Fame.

Enshrinement is truly is one of the most special weeks you can experience and like Fierle said “everything is on,” they are leaving nothing but the red carpet treatment to those who will be in attendance.

Expansion will begin in earnest this August on the grounds of the HOF and the famous dome that now serves as the entrance to the Hall, will now be the exit in 2013 when the ‘Future 50 Project’ is complete. That means the time is now to walk up that spiral walk way, leading you into football’s beginnings and there is not enough time in the day to stand in that room and go back and forth at the archives of the Pro Football Hall of

Da’Quan Bowers: Here Today, Gone Tomorrow?

The agent for Da’Quan Bowers acknowledges that his client’s knee problems will reappear “pretty quick” if they’re going to cause him long-term trouble. “Dr. Andrews said if there were going to be problems (down the road), they’d show up pretty quick,” agent Joe Flanagan said. “He hasn’t had any swelling, soreness or pain. He didn’t have a good (Pro Day), but the fact that he did the workout at all was impressive.” Flanagan continued to insist Bowers is “way ahead of schedule” after January knee surgery, and compared his client’s situation to those of Willis McGahee and Thurman Thomas.

Mancini’s Take: As far as comparison go, Tampa Bay GM Mark Dominik came up with a real gem when comparing Bowers’ situation that of Carnell “Cadillac” Williams, who tore patella tendons in both knees, but still found a way to get back on the field. He also brought up his

Ex-Cat Jacob Tamme Working Out, Waiting

Jacob Tamme became a bit of a fantasy football legend this past year for the Indianapolis Colts.

Tamme entered the season with a career-high six catches for 47 yards and zero touchdowns. He finished the 2010 season with 67 catches, 631 yards and four touchdowns.

For those who were lucky enough to pick up Tamme before 2010 began, that’s what you call a steal.

“I’ve heard that about 15,000 times, which is cool,” said Tamme, who was in Lexington on Tuesday to speak at the annual Fellowship of Christian Athletes Victory Dinner at Southland Christian Church. “I didn’t even know how the whole fantasy team thing worked. My brother, apparently, had me on his fantasy team since my rookie year, putting up zero points every week for years. He finally got rewarded with a couple of points there last year. He told me it
